SAKI UNITED POISED TO MAKE HISTORY, SET TO CLINCH IFC LEAGUE TITLE.
Saki United are on the brink of making history as the first club outside Ibadan to win the IBADAN FOOTBALL COUNCIL (IFC) League in six years.
The Saki-based side have endured six years of near misses, finishing among the top sides but watching Ibadan-based clubs take the coveted trophy.
This season, however, COACH IWALEWA KAZEEM (WALCOT) and his players have finally turned persistence into success.
With 31 points from 14 matches, SAKI UNITED sit firmly at the summit of the table ahead of their final ceremonial fixture against St Luke’s All Stars on Friday, 04th September,2026.
The match will provide the opportunity for the club to be officially crowned champions of the 89th edition of the IFC League, regarded as one of the oldest and most prominent grassroots football competitions in West Africa.
Last season, Saki United came agonisingly close to winning the league, only to lose the title to Adeyemi FC by a single point. That painful experience appears to have strengthened the side, who returned this season with renewed determination.
If crowned on Friday as expected, Saki United will not only lift the IFC League trophy but also create a significant milestone for football in Saki, becoming the first non-Ibadan-based club to win the competition in six years.
